5 Amazing Wellness Weekend Getaways Queensland Offers:

1. Snorkel Getaway: Tangalooma, Moreton Island

Located on the shores of Moreton Island, Tangalooma is a stunning destination renowned for its natural beauty and attractions.

An ideal spot for an active wellness retreat, visitors can enjoy its numerous ocean and land-based activities on offer including feeding the wild Moreton Island dolphins, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and ATVs.

Although there is the option to visit on an operator organised day tour or a self-trip, the best way to really experience Moreton Island is to stay a few nights.

This is especially so if you want to relax and enjoy the facilities of Tangalooma Island Resort as they’ve currently suspended casual visitor pass bookings until further notice.

Tangalooma Island Accommodation

What is great about this Queensland destination is the variety of Tangalooma Island accommodation available. Staying at the Tangalooma Island Resort, there are various beachfront hotel rooms, units, villas and apartments available.

Priced from $159 to $479 per night these properties can cater from 3 to 12 people and are all beautifully set amongst manicured gardens and Moreton Island National Park.

For those visitors who want to splurge a little more for million-dollar island views, there are a number of exclusive Moreton Island houses available to rent also.

Tangalooma Wellness Activities

As mentioned the island offers a variety of active wellness activities to get you outdoors and soaking up the sun, sea and sand.

Being an island and surrounded by gorgeous turquoise coloured waters, of course, our recommended wellness activities are stand-up paddleboarding, getting up and close with the wild Moreton Island dolphins, kayaking and snorkelling and scuba diving the magnificent Moreton Island shipwreck.

For a bit of thrill-seeking, you can also try sandtogganing and exploring the island on a bike, ATV or beach Segway.

How To Get To Tangalooma Island?

The one thing we love about Moreton Island is its close proximity to mainland Queensland. Located only 75-minutes away from Brisbane via the Moreton Island cruise, it’s hard to believe this unspoiled tropical paradise is so close and easy to get to.

That’s why many families, couples, backpackers and tourists visit the island to enjoy its natural surroundings and to get some R&R time away from the city.

Priced $80 per adult and $45 per child (3-14 years), there are four cruise services departing to/from Moreton Island each day, adding to its ease to get to. Shuttle transfers (bookings essential) are also available from Brisbane CBD hotels to help with getting to/from the Brisbane departure wharf.

There’s also on-site secure parking offered for $15 per vehicle each day or $60 for the week.

2. Hiking Getaway: O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, Gold Coast

There’s nothing like a hike through the rainforest to zen-out, self reflect and rejuvenate. It’s found to be therapeutic and offer many health benefits such as reduces stress, lowers blood pressure and boosts your immune system.

So, if a walk in the rainforest is just what the doctor ordered, then one amazing place for this is O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat.

Situated in Lamington National Park, this Gold Coast Hinterland retreat is the perfect spot for a wellbeing break amongst the trees and to get up close with Australia’s wildlife.

A post shared by O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat (@oreillysrainforestretreat) on

For nearly 100 years they’ve helped travellers to escape, recharge and connect with nature and is one of the best-rated gold coast hinterland accommodation properties in the region.

The resort has 48 cosy villas (starting from $157 per night), all self-contained and boasting breathtaking views of the Gold Coast Mountains.

Things To Do At O’Riley’s Rainforest Retreat

Obviously, hiking through the rainforest is top of the list as O’Riley’s is the perfect gateway to exploring the Lamington National Park walks and trails, spanning 160kms and leading to over 500 waterfalls near the gold coast.

There’s a bunch of ways to explore O’Riley’s rainforest walks. This includes guided and unguided treks but one of my favourites is via a Segway.

This tour will have you riding over creek crossings, zooming to see a plummeting waterfall and taking in the views of the Lost World Valley and the Great Dividing Range.

Another one of the top Gold Coast Hinterland attractions to do is the O’Rileys TreeTop Walk. As the first one built in Australia it features over 180m of walkways suspended high above the rainforest floor.

It’ll have you crossing nine suspension bridges, climbing tree ladders to observation decks, spotting over 150 subtropical birds and learning about the local flora and fauna.

For a truly magical experience, you must jump on a Gold Coast glow worm tour. Departing O’Riley’s on a 4WD bus, it’ll take you through the rainforest to the glow worm caves.

And, the moment you enter you’ll be in awe as millions of glow worms illuminates the cliff faces to resemble a sky full of twinkling stars.

Then after all that exploring why not get pampered at the luxurious Lost World Spa with their facials, massages, hot stone therapies, spa and steam room and private infinity pool overlooking the Gold Coast Mountains and Valley.

How To Get To O’Riley’s Rainforest Retreat?

Located only 90 minutes (75km) drive from Coolangatta Airport, O’Riley’s is accessible via a car rental or airport transfers (bookings essential).

If travelling from Brisbane it’s a two-hour drive (113km) winding through the hinterlands and parking is available free on-site.

7 AMAZING BENEFITS WELLNESS RETREAT TRIPS OFFERS YOU https://zentravellife.com/why-you-should-embark-on-a-wellness-weekend/ Sat, 29 May 2021 22:00:07 +0000 https://zentravellife.com/?p=2019 Did you know wellness retreat trips offer holidaymakers many amazing benefits, which have been found to result in improvements in one’s psychological and physical health?

And what’s most interesting is these improvements were still being displayed six weeks later. Whereas, compared to a typical holiday the benefits don’t last as long once returned to usual domestic and work activities.

It’s no wonder why more and more people are looking at wellness retreat holidays and DIY wellness holidays instead.

So, if you are considering making your next holiday one that is focused more on your health and wellbeing, let’s look at what this holiday entails and what some of the benefits you will gain after going on a wellness retreat holiday.

This article may contain affiliate links. Please read the disclaimer for more info.

What Is a Wellness Retreat Holiday?

So what is a wellness holiday? It’s simply a trip that’s all about enhancing your mind, body and spirit and should make you feel better/ more fulfilled.

And, yes it goes beyond relaxing and lounging on a beach for a week. It actually focuses on challenging your fitness, health and lifestyle behaviours.

It will, in fact, have you travelling, unplugging from your everyday life and learning more positive habits that will benefit you beyond your vacay-time.

Some types of wellness breaks include spa, detox, weight loss, medical, yoga, fitness and sports and adventure. This is usually experienced by visiting a wellness retreat or adding it as an activity to your business or leisure trip.

As we grow more conscious of our mental and physical health, the demand for wellness retreats and holiday wellness programs are booming.

It’s the reason why wellness tourism is currently the fastest growing sector in the travel industry, expected to reach $919 billion in spending by 2022.

Wellness Retreat Trip Benefits

Here are seven benefits to be gained by going on a wellness retreat holiday:

1. Build new friendships

When travelling we get to meet new people and form new friendships. And, when visiting a wellness retreat it’s no different. You’re able to connect with like-minded people who are there to achieve the same wellness goals as you.

What’s even better is the support network these people form encouraging one another to keep going and to challenge themselves to succeed.

wellness vacations ben white unsplash

Many leave these getaways with lifelong friends, so don’t be put off going solo as there as many wellness retreat holidays for singles in Australia.

Some amazing wellness retreat NSW, QLD, VIC and SA-based experiences are Happy Buddha Retreats (NSW), Griffins Hill Yoga Retreat (VIC), Daintree Ecolodge (QLD), Island Indulgence Retreats (SA) and Billabong Retreat (NSW) to name a few.

MORE WELLNESS: We also found some incredibly blissful retreat day spa holidays in Australia that you might want to check out.

2. Explore a beautiful location

What’s great about going on wellness retreat holidays is they’re usually situated in stunning regions full of beautiful beaches, coastlines, mountains and national parks.

And, the reason for this is because these natural surroundings are key to helping you unplug, relax and find your best self.

So, for instance, you could experience a womens surf camp in sunny Queensland, soak up gorgeous views at a Byron Bay spa retreat like Gaia Retreat and Spa, experience forest bathing at O’Reilly’s Lost World Spa Resort or recharge at one top wellness retreat NSW offers such as Golden Door Health Retreat & Spa.

The options are endless when it comes to planning your wellness getaway!

3. Plenty of me time

What’s best about a wellness retreat holiday is they can be easily done solo if you want to work on yourself or just get some alone time.

Being a parent getting any alone time is amazing. And on a wellness holiday, it’s one of the main benefits and why so many mothers, fathers and single parents opt for them.

This type of holiday helps you escape your daily routines and opens up your mindset on what you want out of life.

For some, it might be to improve your fitness, relationships, sleep, eating, mental health, detox or to simply feel more rejuvenated.

A few of our wellness favourites for indulging in some solo time include going a Costa Rica surfing vacation, jumping on a Nicaragua surf yoga retreat or attending a Noosa health retreat.

4. Learn meditation

As we live in a world that constantly demands our attention – finding the time to shut off is harder than you think. We might have good intentions to meditate each day, but we usually get distracted and don’t do it.

wellness getaway yogi madhav unsplash

The last thing we often want to do is exercise. However, we know we must do it to maintain a healthy mind and body and this is why fitness holidays and active retreats are so beneficial.

Tips for a DIY wellness holiday

Now not all of us can afford or have the time to go to a wellness retreat, so a great way to incorporate some wellness to your travels (business or leisure) is by doing it yourself (DIY).

Below are seven quick and easy tips to help you ramp up your DIY wellness game.

#1. LOCATION LOCATION: First of all you need to choose the location for your wellness experience. This could be a place you are already travelling to for work or holiday. It can also even be a staycation in your hometown, saving you money.

#2. SWEAT IT OUT: Why not join a fitness class or book a personal instructor to get you moving. You could try your hand at yoga, take a surf or SUP lesson, play a round of golf, jump on a bike tour, shake your tail feather in a dance class – the options are endless.

#3. SPA SESSION: To feel like a true wellness experience you must head to a spa. So, find your local day spa and book in for a massage and additional treatments. It’s the easiest way to feel more relaxed.

#4. HIKE IT: One of the easiest ways to incorporate wellness into your life is by going on a hike or a walk. Why not find a nearby attraction to explore like a national park, botanical garden, beach or a popular city sightseeing route.

#5. DIGITAL DETOX: One of the main reasons we feel burnout is due to technology and being constantly connected. It is this reason we recommend you make a conscious effort to block out time to be offline and avoid any screen time. Instead, grab a book, put your feet up and read that novel you’ve been putting off.

#6. MEDITATE TIME: Another activity to schedule into your day is to meditate. We often overlook doing it, but in fact, it’s one of the easiest and fastest ways to feel better and more recharged. Best of all, it takes as little as 10-15 minutes per day.

#7. GET COOKING: One way to keep anxiety and depression at bay is by simply getting into the kitchen and cooking a healthy meal. It’s an underrated wellness activity with many proven benefits, so why not book into a local cooking class or finding a healthy recipe to cook. You’ll feel better mentally and physically.

11 WAYS ON HOW TO HUMBLE YOURSELF FOR GREATER WELLBEING BENEFITS https://zentravellife.com/how-to-humble-yourself-at-work-and-everyday/ Thu, 20 May 2021 01:14:00 +0000 https://zentravellife.com/?p=1965 Why should one care about learning how to humble yourself at work and everyday? What does being humble even mean? And, how does that even relate to a person’s wellness, I hear you say?

Well, did you know that being humble can greatly improve your personal and professional life?

Also think about when was the last time you enjoyed being in the company of someone who was a bit self-absorbed, bragged a lot, was not so kind, and speaking over you all the time. I bet you didn’t like that very much!

By processing more humble qualities (opposite to the above) it’s been found to be one of the most important attributes for growth, building trust, and facilitates learning, which are key aspects of leadership and personal development.

So what do you have to lose?

We’ve put together some of the ways you can humble yourself at work and every day and highlight the wellbeing benefits you can gain.

11 Ways On How To Humble Yourself:

1. Listen more and speak less

No one likes a chatty Cathy so avoid dominating the conversation. It’s best to let others speak first and hear their thoughts, ideas and opinions. And I mean ‘really’ hear them! Often when people are speaking, we’re not actively listening but instead busy thinking of what we can say when they’re finished instead. So be conscious of this, and once they’ve stopped speaking, digest what they’ve said before replying. This shows a colleague, friend, partner etc. you value what they have to say and by listening helps you dial down your own pride.

2. Admit to mistakes

It can be a hard pill to swallow and it happens to everyone. But making a mistake and trying to cover it up, shift the blame or give excuses is not a good idea and does more harm in the long run. Co-workers will think less of you and it can affect your brand/ reputation. So, it’s always better to apologise when wrong, focus on fixing the problem and ask for help. By doing this, it shows you aren’t stubborn, selfish or unwilling to look perfect. It also highlights that you understand mistakes happen to everyone, and it’s how you handle it and support others (who also make them) that really matters.

3. Show appreciation

Showing your appreciation is a great quality to have. You know you couldn’t have gotten where you are without the help of your colleagues, family, friends, mentor etc. So thanking them for their contributions and support to your successes is important. Also appreciating others’ talent and qualities matters. Congratulate and complaint them! By doing this, it not only shows that you care but it also helps you recognise the qualities that you want to improve and attain.

4. Be open to criticism

There is always room to grow, no matter how awesome you are at what you do. And, a key way to help this is by welcoming criticism. By seeking honest evaluations of your work not only is a sign of staying humble, but it’s also a golden opportunity to improve your game. So, why not chat with your boss or mentor to find out where you could improve, and then speak with others in your workforce or professional circle that excel in those areas for advice to enhance your capabilities.

5. Acknowledge your faults

When it comes to judging others, what good is it really? We all do it from time to time, but this negative way of thinking only causes more issues than good – often affecting our relationships. So, instead of looking at other people’s flaws why not look within and see where you could improve yourself.

6. Accept setbacks

Accepting your failures is an important lesson and one that will help humble you by the experience. Those who are successful in their lives have struggled with failure but didn’t let it keep them down. By accepting it, it not only shows humility but also challenges them to learn, grow and do better next time. As Eloise Ristad said, “when we give ourselves permission to fail, we, at the same time, give ourselves permission to excel”.

7. Practice yoga

There’s a reason why those who do yoga are more in tune with themselves and the world around them. It’s a practice that focuses on love, being kind and showing gratitude. Through strengthening your breath, body and mind it helps to keep you grounded, calm and balanced. Many practice yoga multiple times a week and often attend adventure yoga retreats for a reset and to gain its wellness benefits.

Adventure yoga retreats are a great way to learn how to humble yourself.

8. Be grateful

It’s a quality that we often overlook and forget to practice, but it’s a crucial one in helping us to stay grounded. Yes, life has its ups and downs, and we should try to be more thankful for what we do have. Your success, loved ones and health could be gone tomorrow so dwelling on what we don’t have today isn’t productive or healthy. Be kind to yourself and focus on what you do have – even if it’s the smallest of things.

9. Avoid bragging

Oh, so annoying right? The Bragger! That person who keeps rambling on about their achievements, or even worse lies about them. Yes, you might be winning at life at the moment – a promotion, new house, partner, marriage, baby, travelling the world – whatever it is, best not to talk about it all the time and let others bring it up if they wish to discuss. Otherwise, it might come across as though you think you’re above them. Plus chances are people have already started to notice your achievements and will respect you more for your humility for not boasting.

10. Helping others

To help others, who can’t help you back, is a sign you’ve learned humility. By doing this kind act, it allows you to appreciate what you have and forces you to see everyone as equal. Also, there is no greater satisfaction than being able to help another, plus by giving back it enriches our lives and makes us happier. As said by Gerald Jampolsky, “through our willingness to help others we can learn to be happy rather than depressed.”

11. Spend more time in nature

Sometimes we can feel like the world revolves around us. So, by spending more time in nature, it will help us see how big and complicated it is, and realise that we’re not at the centre of it. Going for a hike in a rainforest, standing near the bottom of a waterfall or swimming in the ocean are some things that will help you appreciate nature’s depth, power, beauty and longevity. Being in its presence will humble you and make you realise that it isn’t all about you.

What are the benefits of being humble?

How do you know when someone is truly humble? Well, there are many benefits and signs of a humble person:

  • They cope much better with anxiety when it comes to their mortality
  • They show higher self-control which leads to more successes in their lives
  • They are more likely to help others in need and are typically more generous
  • They excel in leadership positions as they’re better liked and respected, resulting in greater effectiveness
  • They achieve better work performance and results
  • They have better relationships as they accept others for who they are, which leads to stronger bonds being formed
